Frequently asked questions
Do I need to hire a DJ if I rent sound equipment from you?
No. Our Drop & Go and Soundtrack Builder packages are designed to run without a live DJ — we help you plan the playlist in advance and deliver equipment that's simple to operate. If you'd like someone on-site for the first hour, our Attended Lite package adds that.
Do we need a music license to play songs at our wedding?
Private, invite-only weddings are exempt from ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC public performance licensing in the US, so no music license is required for a typical private reception.
Does our HOA need a license to show a movie at a community event?
Yes. Unlike a private backyard movie night, an HOA or neighborhood screening is legally a public performance and requires a per-title license from a provider like Swank Motion Pictures or Criterion Pictures. We're happy to point your board to the right resource — securing the license is the host organization's responsibility.
What areas of the Charleston Lowcountry do you serve?
We serve Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Summerville, James Island, Johns Island, Daniel Island, North Charleston, and West Ashley, with delivery available further out by request.
How far in advance should we book?
For weddings, 2–3 months ahead is ideal so we have time for a playlist-planning session. Backyard movie nights can often be booked with just 1–2 weeks' notice, though HOA community dates fill up fastest and should be scheduled a season ahead.
What happens if it rains on our movie night?
Outdoor movie bookings include a weather reschedule policy — we monitor the forecast and will work with you to move the date if wind or rain would affect the screen or projector.
